Mao the criminal

For those of you who had ever paid pilgrimage to Tiananmen Square, or even you have not, you must have seen that pix of that ugly kingpin hanging over there. Not that many would believe that the end of Chinese Commie CCP's existence is drawing near. But the following picture appeared and then disappeared from the CCP's People's Net yesterday could be a very good omen.

According to the EpochTimes:

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) website People’s Net made a huge mistake yesterday. When publishing news about a wanted man who’d surrendered, they used the photo of former communist leader Mao Zedong.

Although the photo was quickly removed, Mao was labeled “the A-class wanted man who trafficked women and children.”

Was it just a simple mistake? Who knows? When in the not too distant future when all the CCP kingpins will be labeled wanted criminals by the Chinese people sooner or later, then we'll realize that this "now you see it now you don't" internet episode is really an advanced signal for thing to come. Just be prepared!

Today's toon

Yes I can!
No you can't!

You win, you stinks!

"You are the 'I win' guy, you can do whatever you want right now, but, . . . but, . . . gosh, . . . you stinks!"

Tilting at green windmills

I have not read as much of George Will's writings as used to in the old days. Mainly because he has become just a token conservative in the raging leftest world of Washington D.C. But I like his column today and in particular I borrowed his title for my post here. I have not, and I am sure a good portion of American people have not either, ever heard the Spanish economics professor Gabriel Calzada, who has produced an important report that in George Will's word is "inconvenient for the Obama's administration's green agenda." The report can be read here.

Perhaps the essense of the report can be seen by the following interview segment by eenews:

Monica Trauzzi: Dr. Calzada, this new report focuses on the impact of government subsidies on the creation of new green jobs and the subsequent effects that these subsidies have on the economy. What are the bottom-line numbers coming out this report that you've seen in Spain as a result of the government's program to create green jobs?

Gabriel Calzada: Well, the bottom-line number is that in order to sustain these jobs, since you have really a sort of bubble, because you are creating jobs that can be only maintained in case you continue putting money into the bubble. And on top of this, many of these jobs, most of the jobs are in installation of new fields. So in case you want to maintain them, you have to, again, increase the size of the money you put inside this scheme to increase the number of plans you are starting. This produced that we have spent and committed $37 billion in the subsidies and that the yearly subsidy has been growing until this point where we have spent, until the end of 2008, 37 billion and we have created 50,200 jobs. So you do the math and you have that every green job has cost around $770,000 per job. Then all these resources that have been taken from other parts of the economy and put into the creation of these jobs or into the subsidy of renewable energies, if you look at how many jobs this amount of money creates in the rest of the economy you see that for every job that you have been creating, subsidizing, you would have created 2.2 jobs in the rest of the economy. And these are probably the most important numbers. Also this is not a number of our study, but we took the number of the government, the government is recognizing now in Spain that if we want to pay for the debt that we have accumulated because of this feeding tariff or these subsidies we would have to increase the electricity bill to the consumers by 31 percent.

And George Will's conclusion is not encouraging and only in his style of writing that has to scolding both sides that turned me off some time ago:

. . . while being dismayed by the frequency with which such findings are ignored simply because they question policies that are so invested with righteousness that methodical economic reasoning about their costs and benefits seems unimportant. When the president speaks of "new green energy economies" creating "countless well-paying jobs," perhaps they really are countless, meaning incapable of being counted.

For fervent believers in governments' abilities to control the climate and in the urgent need for them to do so, believing is seeing: They see, through their ideological lenses, governments' green spending as always paying for itself. This is a free-lunch faith comparable to that of those few conservatives who believe that tax cuts always completely pay for themselves by stimulating compensating revenues from economic growth.

Anyway, I still like the poetic title!

Where's the Birth Certificate?

Sign of the times! Or more specifically an unanswered question for U.S.A. citizens in 2008/2009 that prompts bill boards to spring up along highways around the country:

This one in Louisiana:

And this one in Pennsylvania:

If you really do not know why this question was asked, then you must be:
1). pretending;
2). from Mars;
3). your only news sources are Obamania media, e.g., CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, NPR, WaPo, NYT, LAT, etc, etc, . . . ;
4). you are a real moron just as Obama always thinks of you;
5). all of the above;
6). non of the above;
7). whatever!

By the way, I found the pictures from here and here. And one more thing, for all the true morons out there, you may think this is no longer an issue, a scanned "Certification of Life Birth" posted online is not, NOT, NOT, a Birth Certificate. Answer the question: Where is the Birth Certificate?

The emperor has no clothes

Here's a great must-read article from cfif.org (Center for Individual Freedom):

Cataloguing Barack Obama’s mendacity is like attempting to isolate individual pellets during a driving hailstorm.

Each of his fabrications is astonishing in its sheer audacity, but quickly fades into anonymity amid the endless barrage. And because he issues them with such rapidity, the effect is a contagion of mass amnesia that soothes the fawning “watchdog” media and induces stupor among the public.

Obama’s preposterous “jobs saved or created” artifice is merely the latest vivid example.

In January, while advocating its proposed “stimulus” legislation, the White House issued a report warning that unless the bill was passed, unemployment could reach 8.5% by this month on its way to a peak of 8.8% in 2010. If the legislation was passed, on the other hand, the White House promised that unemployment would top out at 7.8% before steadily declining.

Obama also issued his absurd promise to “save or create” 3.5 million jobs, even though neither the Department of Labor nor any other governmental agency has any idea how to measure “jobs saved.”

Well. Congress passed Obama’s stimulus bill, but something has gone awry along the way. Since the date of passage, the American economy has lost approximately 1.6 million more jobs. And this month, the Department of Labor reported that the nation’s unemployment rate has reached 9.4%, some 1.6% higher than Obama’s expected peak.

So how did Obama respond?

By brazenly contending that he had somehow “saved or created” 150,000 new jobs, with 600,000 more coming this summer. Even the New York Times acknowledged that Obama’s concoction is “based on macroeconomic estimates, not an actual counting of jobs.”

That makes sense, of course, since “an actual counting of jobs” would reveal that Obama’s promise was demonstrably false.

It appears, however, that we’re beginning to hear the steadily-increasing murmur that “the emperor has no clothes!”

That adage, of course, derives from the classic 1837 fairy tale The Emperor’s New Clothes by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen. In the story, the leader of a prosperous city habitually places greater emphasis upon his fashionability and popularity than upon sound leadership or effective governance.

Of course the story is familiar to all of us. Here's the author's conclusion:

Accordingly, we await the collective realization that Emperor Obama has no clothes. But the murmur appears to be getting steadily more audible.

After Obama delivered his latest “American Apology Tour ‘09” address in Cairo, for instance, an observer in the United Arab Emirates noted, “he seems to say everything without actually promising anything.”

And here in the United States, scientific surveys provide ominous news for Obama. For the first time, a June 5, 2009 Rasmussen poll revealed that Obama’s “strong disapproval” percentage has equaled his “strong approval” rating at 34% apiece. To provide perspective, Obama enjoyed a +28% margin the day after entering office, with 44% strongly approving and only 16% strongly disapproving.

And in Europe, voters this week overwhelmingly rejected left-leaning and socialist candidates. It appears that people who have actually seen socialism in practice have developed a distaste for it. Foreign leaders such as Israel’s Netanyahu, France’s Sarkozy and Germany’s Merkel have already begun to criticize Obama’s directives, and this week’s election results portend even greater friction.

The chorus of people pointing out the emptiness and pretensions of Obama’s agenda is growing larger, and the consensus that the emperor has no clothes draws nearer.

We can all be optimistic as America's future is obviously rests upon how soon can American people can wake up and fully realize the mere fact that, indeed, the emperor O has no clothes on what so ever!
